Information we collect
When you sign in with Google, Google and our authentication provider, Supabase, provide your account identifier, email address, and basic profile information, such as your name and profile picture. MyTuneBook uses this information to identify your account, display your name, and connect you to your saved library. We never receive your Google password. Google sign-in does not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or calendars.
We also store information you choose to add: your display name, username, optional first and last name and location, tune details, learning progress, notes, source links, uploaded scores and recordings, and your sharing preferences. If you use jam or teaching features, we store the jam listings, memberships, teaching records, student details, and shared material you create or provide. Signing in with ChatGPT instead provides the account information needed to identify your tunebook.
Technical information, including browser and device details, request metadata, and error reports, may be processed to protect accounts and troubleshoot the service. Score error reports can include tune and file identifiers, the page you were viewing, and loading information.
How we use information
We use account information to sign you in, maintain your session, connect your sign-in options when you request it, and make your library available on your devices. We use the information you add to save and display your tunes, support practice and teaching, and provide the sharing and jam features you choose to use. Technical information helps us prevent misuse and investigate problems.
We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train general-purpose AI or machine-learning models. MyTuneBook’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
PDF imports
When you choose Find tunes, the selected PDFs are sent to OpenAI to identify tune titles, details, and score boundaries. You review the results before saving tunes. We retain your original PDFs and generated scores privately in your account so crops can be corrected. OpenAI processes the PDFs and extraction results under its API data policies; background processing temporarily stores the response with OpenAI. Importing does not publish your scores.
Storage, service providers, and protection
Supabase processes authentication and associated Google account information. Cloudflare provides the website’s hosting, application database, and file storage. ChatGPT provides its sign-in service when you choose that option. When you send an invitation or share a score by email, Resend processes the recipient address and the message or attachment you choose to send. These providers process information needed to operate their services. We share information with service providers for these purposes, or when required by law, rather than for unrelated marketing.
The website uses HTTPS. Private library and file requests require an authenticated account and are checked against the account that owns the data. Essential cookies maintain your sign-in session, and browser storage supports the application’s navigation and preferences. Signing out ends the session on that device.
What you choose to share
Your library, notes, scores, recordings, email address, and account identifiers are private by default. After signing in, your profile is public and searchable by default using your display name and username, including when profile setup is unfinished or skipped. Anyone can find and follow a listed profile. To opt out, turn off “Let other musicians find me” and save in Settings → Profile. Existing saved opt-outs stay unlisted. Listing your profile does not publish your tunes. Optional first and last name and location stay private unless you choose to show them. Separately, turning on Public repertoire shares your learned, learning, want-to-learn, and not-learned tune names, keys, types, traditions, and statuses. Friends can compare your learned tunes with their own tunes. You can stop listing your profile or make your repertoire private in Settings. An unlisted public repertoire remains accessible to people with its link; a private and unlisted profile is not publicly accessible. Repertoire pages do not expose your private scores, recordings, notes, or email address.
Other sharing features have their own audiences. A tune-share link makes the selected tune details available to people with the link. A collection-share link makes the collection name, description, and selected tune details available to people with the link; private notes and attached files are not included. Deleting a collection removes its share link, but people who already saved a copy keep their copy. Jam listings and contributions may be public; teaching material is available according to the sharing you choose. Information you intentionally publish can be copied by people who can see it.
Retention and your choices
We keep account and library information while it is needed to provide your tunebook. Saving a tune replaces its previous details; we do not keep an edit history. Archiving keeps the tune’s current details and files so you can restore it. Signing out or disconnecting Google does not delete your saved library.
You can edit your username, display name, optional name and location, and sharing choices in Settings and export tune metadata from Library options. Scores and recordings are downloaded separately. You can revoke MyTuneBook’s access from your Google Account’s third-party connections settings. To request access, correction, or deletion of your account and associated data, email rogenjh@gmail.com. We verify account ownership before acting on a request. Limited information may be retained where needed for security, legal obligations, or provider backups.
